With the launch of two new smartphones right at the start of 2025, it’s time to discover which among them fare as the strongest and fastest device at our Review Rumble.

Samsung and OnePlus are the biggest names in the Android smartphone market. So, when they both release new flagship models around the same time, it’s only right that we let them clash head-to-head to see who comes out on top in the battle of first impressions.

In this edition of the Review Rumble, two contenders fight to take the center stage of preference. In the red corner, we have Samsung Galaxy S25 and its opponent, in the blue corner OnePlus 13.

Let’s start by meeting the champions, gearing up for the fight –

Samsung S25

With a fresh look that boasts a full-rectangle display with a body armed with rounded corners, the Samsung S25 enters the arena with a wide-range of features that takes the Galaxy AI to a whole another level.

OnePlus 13

Following a long lineage of strong devices, the OnePlus 13 seems to be a worthy successor that raises the bar with a surge of power in its performance, camera, memory and hardware. Not just that, this smartphone also has decided to harness AI to increase its standings in the ring.

In first looks, the competition seems to be fiery; both devices have had their predecessors setting new benchmarks, prompting the expectations on them to be sky high. Enough with the suspense, it’s time we let the bell echo the start of the fight.

Round 1 – Design and display:

The Galaxy S25 starts the attack with its flat Armour Aluminium frame and rear glass. It is slim and light, making it markedly different in feel and form compared to other high-end flagship models across Android and iOS. The OnePlus 13 pushes forward with its own version of an Aluminium frame and a microfiber vegan leather finish in the back.

The barrage seems strong, but the counter is nothing less. The OnePlus 13 shines brighter than the Galaxy S25 when it comes to display brightness. The 4500 nits brightness is more than what the Galaxy S25 offers, showcasing skill in the area of customer needs.

Round 2 – Performance

When it boils down to their tenacity, both contenders feature the Snapdragon 8 elite processor.  But Samsung has an ace up its sleeve – their custom-designed processor that meet the high-performance standards of a Galaxy phone, sure does heat up the fight. However, OnePlus is not without any surprises. When the ask is to handle truly heavy-duty tasks, the tuning of their device puts them across the line with their 16GB variant.

The fight moves to AI capabilities and the match between the devices is just short distance away from being ruled a draw. While OnePlus has honed its offerings to bring the fight to one of the defending champions, Samsung has taken the AI offerings up a notch, thanks to its experiences in the past. However, the chipset trumps it all. Despite AI being a strong attack in its arsenal, the Snapdragon 8 Elite levels the performance.

The round seems to falter OnePlus, but right then the device pulls through to change this. The battery life of the OnePlus 13 goes beyond anything we’ve ever seen in the smartphone market. With a 6000 mAh battery and superfast charging, this is probably your best bet if you need a phone that just doesn’t quit.

The Galaxy S25 retains its predecessor’s camera setup because why ruin a good thing! Except OnePlus has just about gone and outdone them there, too.

Both phones feature a 50MP primary sensor suitable for 8K recording. Except the OnePlus 13 also has incredible 50 MP ultrawide and telephoto lenses. It also has a 32 MP front camera, which outshines the S25, at least on paper.

Both phones also offer some of the best-in-class AI photo editing features you can expect from any top flagship phone, but their sustained effectiveness is yet to be proven.

Let’s talk moolah. You can pre-order the 128GB Galaxy S25 model for INR 74,999, while the 256GB model costs INR 80,999, and the 512 GB model costs INR 92,999.

The OnePlus 13 recently launched in the US, Europe, and the UK. The 256GB model costs INR 69,999, and the 512GB model costs INR 76,999.

Shocking the audience with awe and fascination, there’s not much to differentiate between the cost, prompting us to call it a tie.

Who gets the champion’s belt in this Review Rumble

The Samsung Galaxy S25 is lighter and optimized when it comes to camera, AI and the club of features it is ready to provide for customers that love the right service. However, when it comes to the on-paper comparison of value for money, the OnePlus 13 truly takes the cake with just the sheer innovation required to pack this much performance into one device. The final vote for the winner is always the judge’s call i.e, your call. Let’s hear your verdict!
